Deepika bags gold in World Youth Championship

Teen sensation Deepika Kumari clinched the gold medal in the junior section of women's recurve event in the World Youth Archery Championship as India concluded their campaign with one more silver and two bronze medals at Legnica in Poland.

Deepika, seeded third, defeated top seed Kim Minjung of Korea 6-2, according to information received here.

The Korean won the first set to pick up two points, but the Indian roared back to win the next three to clinch her second world title.

She had won her first title two years back in Ogden where she took the recurve cadet women's title.

In between the two gold medals, she also annexed the Commonwealth Games gold medal in women's individual recurve event at New Delhi.

The Indian team, comprising Atanu Das, Somnath Mondal and Rajgovind Swansi, managed silver in junior men's recurve after going down to Korea 200-214.

India picked two bronze medals through junior women's recurve team, consisting of Deepika Kumari, Rimil Buriuly and Seema Verma, which beat Japan 201-189 in the bronze medal play-off.

The other bronze medal came in the cadet recurve mixed team, consisting of Mainaw Narzary and Binod Swansi, which got the better of Bulgaria 146-145 in the bronze medal play-off.
