Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna and Chief Minister Mrs Sheila Dikshit, who normally do not see eye to eye on most administrative matters, have decided to impose undeclared curfew and restrict the movement of people in public places on Sunday to ensure there is no untoward incident that could mar the opening and closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games.

The Games will be declared open by Prince Charles and President of India Mrs Pratibha Patil on Sunday evening.

"We are not taking any chances," a top Delhi police officer told rediff.com on Sunday morning. "The closure order will be strictly implemented," he said.

According to the order, issued by the Delhi government, all markets in the capital, shopping malls and fruit and vegetable markets will remain closed throughout the day.

Delhi police chief Y S Dadwal told rediff.com that his workforce is ready to deal with any terrorist threat. He said he is satisfied with the overall deployment and work done by his men who have been working round the clock.
