Marcos Baghdatis advanced to the third round of the Nottingham Open, defeating top seed David Ferrer 6-2, 7-6(4) on Tuesday.
The Cypriot fired nine aces and won 73 per cent of his service points to overcome the Spaniard in an enthralling contest that lasted 90 minutes.
World No 7 Ferrer was playing his first grass-court match of the season as he returned to Nottingham for the first time in 11 years.
