Henri Kontinen and John Peers stunned the Bryan twins 7-5, 7-5 to win the Australian Open men’s double title at MelbournePark on Saturday.

This is their first Grand Slam title as a team.

With this victory, the Aussie-Finnish combine put the breaks on Bob and Mike Bryan’s chase for John Newcombe’s record of 17 doubles majors.

The six-time Australian Open champions have not had the best time against Kontinen and Peers in the past and this time too they were tested to the limit.

The fourth seeds struck 22 winners to steal the first set and pounced once again at 6-5 to clinch the title with a sumptuous lob from the Australian.
