Ace Indian tennis star Sania Mirza sailed into the pre-quarterfinals of the women's singles event at the Asian Games with straight set victory over Wing Yau Venise Chan of Hong Kong on Thursday.

Sania hardly broke a sweat and took just 50 minutes to tame Chan 6-1, 6-0 in her first round encounter at the Aoti Tennis Centre in Guangzhou.

Sania will next face the winners of the match between sixth seed Shuai Zhang of Hong Kong and Nepal's Malika Rana.

Poojashree Venkatesha is the other Indian in the fray and she will face seventh seed Chen Kai Chang of Taipei in her opening match later in the day.
