Indian rowers continued to sizzle at the Asian Games with the men's team winning the silver in the men's eight event at Guangzhou on Friday.

The team comprising Girraj Singh, Saji Thomas, Lokesh Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Ranjit Singh, Satish Joshi and Jenil Krishnan finished second behind China with a timing of 5:49.50.

They were behind the Chinese team all through in the 2000m race but kept the host under pressure.

By the 500m mark, the Indians were behind by 3.11 seconds but as the race progressed the Chinese increased the gap.

Eventually, the Indians finished 12.06 seconds behind the hosts to settle for the silver.

This is India's third medal of the day from the rowing competition. Bajrang Lal Takhar won the gold in the men's sculls and the combo of Pratima Puhara and Pramila Prava Minz won the bronze in the women's pair event.

In total, Indian rowers have fetched five medals so far. On Thursday also the rowers had won two silvers.
