South Korea beat Poland 2-0 to seal their first World Cup finals victory at the 15th attempt.

Joint hosts, South Korea have qualified five times in a row for the finals and six times in all, making them the most successful Asian soccer power. However, the country hasn't managed to win a single match in its World Cup campaigns.

Coached by Guus Hiddink, a Dutchman, the team has several overseas players, who have never had the opportunity to play together as a unit. Thus, the pressure will be on Hiddink and his wards to deliver and snatch at least that elusive victory in the finals.
