Zhendong is World No 2 in singles with team-mate Wang Chuqin the No 1 ranked player.
Kamal off to an encouraging start, staying on the heels of Zhendong, who leads 3-2.
He hits long but follows it with a cracking smash and bags the next point to level scores at 4-4.
Another backhand smash as Kamal leads 5-4 but errs on the next two points as the Chinese grabs the lead.
Good service from Kamal with lot of underspin as Zhendong's slice goes long with scores level at 6-6.
Kamal fighting fire with fire as he responds with a powerful service to level at 7-7 before he gets the next point with a heavy spin serve.
Two points in a row for Zhendong, who leads 9-8 before Kamal does the same to take the lead 9-8.
Kamal wins the first game 11-9.
