In the tennis mixed doubles quarters, the Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Rujuta Bhosle beat Kazakhstan's Kulambaye and Lomakin 7-5, 6-3 to seal a spot in the mixed-doubles semi-final and assure themselves of a medal.

Meanwhile, there is some heartening news coming in from the football field in Hangzhou. Sunil Chhetri's India have done well to hold Saudi Arabia to a 0-0 draw in the first half of their Round of 16 match.

They put on a stoic defence to frustrate their higher ranked opponents and deny them any lead in the first half.
