The India Under-16 football team conceded a late goal and went down fighting 1-2 to the Everton youth team in a friendly match at Everton, England, on Thursday night.
The Indian boys, who are on a nine-day exposure tour of England on the invitation of Manchester United, ahead of next month's AFC Championship in Uzbekistan, gave a good account of themselves but were unlucky to miss a few chances.
Everton took the lead midway through the first-half but the Indians restored parity in the 35th minute through Malsawmfela, a prolific scorer on the team's tour of the United States.
Ten minutes from time, Everton scored the winner.
The Indians could have found the equaliser towards the close but Lalrindika missed a penalty kick.
Everton also wasted a spot-kick.
The India Under-16 team plays its second friendly, against Manchester United youth team on September 9.
