Ravshan Teshabaev's second half goal guided Vasco to their first victory as they edge past Air India in the ONGC I-League, played at Nehru stadium, in Margao on Saturday.

Vasco played with determination and scored the all important goal in the 65th minute through Teshabaev whose left footer from close range found the net off a pass by Menino Fernandes.

Vasco who finished their first leg engagement are at the bottom with five points from eleven matches. While Air India remained on 16 points from as many matches.

Vasco played midfielder Shearzod Nazarov upfront and pushed Agnelo D'souza on the right flank as they build their moves mostly from the right.

But somehow were not able to breach the rival defense as their final pass went astray. Their best chance in the first half came three minutes before the break when a combined move between Menino Fernandes and Agnelo D'souza, which saw the latter cross from the right, went abegging as Ravshan Tashabaev failed to cash in.

On the other hand, Air India too made two changes, bringing in keeper Sarath C in place of injured Arup Debnath and Kailash Singh in place of Emmanuel Ovieghara who missed too many scoring chances in earlier matches.

But things did not work for Air India as they lacked the sting to trouble the rival defense with man of the match Covan Lawrence doing well to cut off Vasco's moves.
