Looking forward to the French Open

The week before a Grand Slam is always exciting. This week was full of anticipation!

I’ve had some tendonitis on my left knee (all part of being a professional tennis player) and have been working with my trainer, Shayamal, who is from South Africa, while I’m here in London.

He’s making sure that I’m fit and raring to go. I’ve been working out twice a day in the gym, doing lots of conditioning work, like lots of cycling and stability work on top of my regular routine.

Well, 2008 will be my first ever main draw at the French Open, so I’m definitely looking forward to it. Paris is a wonderful city, with friendly people.

I love the food here -- it’s not Italy, but they have yummy pastas (in my first blog I told you how much I love food). The city is beautiful, of course, and it feels great to go back to Paris every time.

This year I will be there four days before the tournament starts. This extra time will be to get used to the courts and conditions, which can be very different from London, where the weather is cold. I’m really hoping for some warmer weather next week.

My doubles partner Aisam Qureshi is from Pakistan. He and I have been playing together for some time now, although this will be our first Grand Slam together, which makes it even more exciting.

We are looking forward to give more than 100 per cent and do well among the top players of the ATP tour.

Will keep you all posted on the progress of the tour on my next blog..

    Rohan
