German Blitzkrieg
Bastian Schweinsteiger made a remarkable comeback.
Listless in the group stages, he also received a red card against Croatia. But in the knockout stages, he was arguably the best German on the field.

He scored once and set up two for Miroslav Klose and Ballack in a brilliant 3-2 win over Portugal in the quarter-finals.
And in the semi-finals against Turkey he was spectacular.
The midfielder powered through the Turkey midfield, lost his markers and deftly flicked a cross from Lukas Podolski wide of Rustu Recber to make it 1-1, as Germany equalised against the run of play.
In the final against Spain, he was good, but not good enough. And that probably made the difference.
