The 19-year-old Spaniard, who is ranked at No.132 and had beaten Australian Casey Dellacqua 6-3, 6-3 in the third round, was again at her very best and allowed the Italian no room whatsoever.
This was the second big scalp in a week for Navarro, who playing in her first major tournament, had caused a big upset in the second round by ousting Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo 6-3, 6-4.
