Vikas Gowda: The US-based discus thrower failed to reach anywhere near his personal best. He hurled the discus to 60.69 metres and finished 11th in Group A and 22nd overall, a performance way below his personal best and National record of 64.96 metres.
Renjith Maheswary: Cleared much lower than his best and finished last among the 18 finishers in Group B in the triple jump qualifying.
Renjith's jump of 15.77 metres, which he achieved in his first attempt, was way below his personal best of 17.04 meters. It placed him overall 35th in a field of 37th finishers.
Surendra Singh: Was not at his best and his timing of 28:13.97 seconds was good enough just for 26th place among the 35 runners who finished the 10, 000 meters run.
Footnote: The women’s 4 x 400 metres relay team, comprising Satti Geetha, Manjeet Kaur, Chitra Soman and Mandeep Kaur failed to qualify for the final after finishing a disappointing seventh in the heats. The quartet clocked 3:28.83 seconds in the eight-team Heat 1, bringing the curtain down on India's overall campaign at the Games. Sini Jose and M R Poovamma were also part of the relay squad.
