The Women's Individual Sabre competition at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games started with two surprise eliminations at the Fencing Hall on Saturday with reigning world champion Elena Nechaeva of Russia and World No. 8 Leonore Perrus of France crashing out during the round of 32.
The Games lasted only one bout for 2007 world champion Nechaeva. The Russian was outscored by Polish fencer Irena Wieckowska who came back from 9-5 down to win 15-12.
