Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles came up short in the Monte Carlo Masters final on Sunday.
The Indo-Bahaman combination lost 3-6, 3-6 to the Spanish combine of Rafael Nadal and Tommy Robredo in the decider.
For Bhupathi and his partner, it was a second straight reverse in a final after the loss at Miami last month. The duo however, had won back-to-back titles in Memphis and Dubai earlier in the year.

The win completed a double for Nadal, who had earlier in the day put out Switzerland Roger Federer 7-5, 7-5 to win the singles title for a fourth successive year, a feat last attained by New Zealand's Anthony Wilding in 1914.
Nadal and Robredo had menawhile put out the eighth-seeded duo of Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyet in the last four.
