Harsh Mankad has been rewarded for winning the USD 10,000 ITF tournament in Chandigarh as he was on Saturday included in India's Davis Cup team for the upcoming tie against Japan to be played inNew Delhi from April 11.
Mankad has been named as the fifth member of the team, to be led by Leander Paes.
"The selection committee of the All India Tennis Association has decided to include Harsh Mankad as the fifth member of the Davis Cup team. He has made a good comeback to professional tennis after having been down with an injury," an AITA press release said.
Mankad, who last played Davis Cup in 2005 against Uzbekistan in Jaipur, missed on-court action for a year due to a knee injury.
Mankad, on Saturday, won the Chandigarh ITF tournament after his opponent Rohan Bopanna pulled out of the final due to an inujry.
