As if the divas of world tennis that will feature at the Sunfeast Open 2007 were not enough to set the city of joy's cup brimming over, the veritable god of world cricket Sachin Tendulkar will be in action at Kolkata on September 18, if everything goes to the plan.

The Little Maestro will be wearing his sporting gear but only this time it would be a tennis bat as he will be involved in fun-tennis involving some of the marquee players of the tournament.

Sania's WTA participation unsure

While Sania Mirza, who everyone hopes will recover from her wrist injury, will be a part of the tennis promo, some other big names could also be involved.

It may be recalled that the last time Sania blazed the floors at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly was egging her on every stroke and move.

Tournament Director Jaidip Mukherjee told UNI, "We are trying to get Sachin Tendulkar for the promotion of the tournament. He will be involved in a game of fun-tennis here on September 18.

"Efforts are on and the final take on this will come at a later date," he added.

If the tournament has attracted the likes of Martina Hingis and Anastasia Myskina in the past, then it's a roll call of stars this time round.

Daniela Hantuchova, Marion Bartoli, Maria Krilenko and Sania Mirza are ready to set the courts afire for the Tier III WTA Tour with prize money of 175,000 USD. The event will be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium from September 17 to 23.

Shah Rukh Khan has already been involved in the promotion of the event and now with Sachin Tendulkar setting up a date with the city, people are just lapping it up.
