World number one Roger Federer moved closer to a Sony Ericsson hat-trick on Monday, easing into the fourth round of the Masters Series event with 7-5, 6-3 win over Spain's Nicolas Almagro.
Federer will next face Guillermo Canas, who ended his career best 41-match winning streak with a second round upset at Indian Wells.
