Notwithstanding a disappointing performance by star jumper Anju Bobby George, the Indian team will return home happier after an improved showing at the 17th Asian Athletics Championships in Amman, Jordan.
With the final tally of five gold, five silver and five bronze medals, India finished second behind China (7 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze) in the continental event.
In the last edition of the meet, at Incheon, Korea, in 2005, India was fourth with a haul of four gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
