The Centre Court, one of the most revered sports venues, has a capacity of 13, 812 while Court No1 can hold more than 11,000 people, but only 500 tickets of each go on sale daily.
But for the rest -- read those lighter in the pocket -- there are 6,000 ground admission passes, one of which I intended to get my hands on.
Queuing up for the tickets is as much a Wimbledon experience.
The experience begins at the Southfields station, clearly unequipped to handle the hordes of crowds pouring out of each compartment. As you step out onto the platform, a plastic cup of café latte is whisked into your hand. Free coffee? Not a bad way to begin your day!
