Murray remained upbeat after his first career meeting with Nadal.

"I'm definitely not disappointed, I felt like a played a really great match," Murray said. "I missed a few shots by a couple of inches and he just played some great shots when he needed to.

"I was very happy with the way I fought and I felt my standard of my tennis was excellent all the way through. I played near to the best I can."
