Lime time in Melbourne
January 18, 2007
So far the main fashion statement has come not from the women, but on the men's side of the draw, where American Zack Fleishman dyed his hair red, white and blue in a fit of patriotic fervour before playing local hero Wayne Arthurs.
The problem was his hair-do resembled the French tricolour more than the Stars and Stripes, making him the subject of amused heckling from the Australian crowd as he lost to Arthurs.
"I fully expected it, no hard feelings," Fleishman said. "It's kind of a ridiculous thing to do and it's probably never been seen before. There were little jabs here and there."
