Czech teenager Nicole Vaidisova suffered a second set stutter before prevailing over American veteran Jill Craybas 6-4 5-7 6-1 in her opening match at the Australian Open.
The 17-year-old, who reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in her breakthrough year of 2006, smashed 13 aces as she finally overhauled the athletic 32-year-old American and now faces Venezuela's Milagros Sequera in the second round.
