Oman secured a lucky lead in the dying minutes of the first half with an own goal to beat Malaysia 3-1.
Encouraged by their first half lead, Oman stormed into action and secured a superb goal 10 minutes after the restart. Fawzi Bait Doorbeen delivered a perfect right wing cross that Ibrahim Al Ghailani gratefully headed past goalkeeper Syed Adney S. H. to double Oman's lead.
But Malaysia were not content to leave the running to the Omanis and four minutes later Mohammad Hardi Jaafar offered a powerful reply.
As Malaysia pushed for an equaliser they left holes at the back that were finally exposed by Badar Al Maimani in the 89th minute.
He picked up a loose ball in the Malaysia penalty area before dispatching a right-footed shot into the right-hand corner of the net to make it 3-1.
