When he was 22, a peroxide-blond Ina came to England to start playing for Arsenal in 2001. He hardly spoke English and was the first Japanese player to play in the English Premiership League.
But the London club dropped him and after a shin injury he was unable to find more work in England and returned to Japan.
His two goals for Japan in World Cup 2002 put him back onto the world stage.
His blond appearance is much appreciated in Japan.
