Real Madrid have made a new offer for Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy after Manchester United rejected a bid last week.
"The club have made a new offer and are waiting for reply from Manchester," a Real spokesman said on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Van Nistelrooy is at the centre of a tug-of-war between Real and Bayern Munich, after he said he wants to leave Old Trafford after five years in England.
Spanish media reported that Real have bid 15 million euros.
The Netherlands striker, who joined United for a then British record of 19 million pounds ($34.73 million) in 2001, had a disappointing end to the 2005-06 season in which he was dropped by manager Alex Ferguson.
However, when asked if there had been any change in Van Nistelrooy's situation on Wednesday, Ferguson told Sky Sports TV: "None at all. At this moment in time, without question [he's still a United player].
"He trained well yesterday. He had a good attitude to his training, which is good, therefore he's a United player."
