After cutting through the 42.195-km course, Kenya's dominance was clear as they swept the podium.
Rono paced himself judiciously to surprise a strong field . He clocked 2 hours, 12 minutes and 03 seconds to obliterate countryman Julius Sugut's race record, set in the last edition.
Sugut had timed 2:13.20 seconds.
