Thailand retained the tennis men's single gold despite losing their best player, Paradorn Srichaphan, to injury earlier in the Games.
Danai Udomchoke amply filled the shoes of injured Thai tennis champion, defeating the formidable Lee Hyung Taik of Korea, ranked 49, 7–5, 6–3.
Japan's Go Seoda and Cecil Mamiit of the Philippines won bronze medals.
