Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi relied on their vast experience to stage a dramatic recovery and bag the gold medal in the Asian Games tennis men's doubles event with a gruelling three-set victory on Wednesday.
The Indian pair saved seven match points to escape to a 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 victory against Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana of Thailand in a marathon summit showdown which lasted close to three hours.
