Sania Mirza lined up for a medal finish with an easy victory over Thailand's Suchanan Viratprasert in the women's singles quarter-finals at the 15th Asian Games, in Doha, on Monday.

The Indian star, seeded fourth, beat Viratprasert 6-3, 6-2 in just over an hour to enter the last four, where she will face top-seed Li Na of China.

The other semi-final will be between China's Jie Zheng and Japan's Aiko Nakamura.

Nakamura beat Tamarine Tanasugarn 3-6, 6-3 ,4-1 (retired), while Zheng bt Yung Chan 3-6, 6-4 ,6-2.

Sania, 20, was unaffected by overcast, windy conditions as she easily overpowered the Thai girl, ranked 340 in the world, with her spanking groundstrokes.

She got early breaks in both sets to maintain the pressure on her opponent.

Though Sania's serve was still the weak link in her armour, it was not tested enough. After being level 3-3 in the second set, the Hyderabadi girl won seven games in a row to put the match beyond Viratprasert.

Viratprasert broke Sania in the fifth game of the second set to get on the board, but it was not enough to upset Indian's rhythm.
