Ten Sports will telecast sports-based feature films of recent times during the months of April and May as part of its philosophy to bring wholesome sports entertainment to its viewers.

The new programme 'Pepsi Playtime TV - The Sports Movie Festival', starts Friday, April 28, with the telecast of 2000 super hit, 'Remember the Titans', starring Oscar winner Denzil Washington, Will Patton and Wood Harris. Each week the movies will premiere on Friday at 8:00 pm IST, followed by a repeat on Sunday at 10:30 am IST.

Chris McDonald, CEO, Taj Television Limited, owners of Ten Sports, said: "At Ten Sports, we have always tried to be innovators in our programming mix. Sports and movies are two passions of the Indian sub-continent and we are very pleased to be able to offer this powerful combination to millions of homes across India. "

Movies to be telecast:

April 28: Remember the Titans is the true story that took place in Alexandria, Virginia, of a newly-appointed African-American coach, his relationship with the local white assistant coach and how they integrate a racially polarised high school football team.

May 5: He Got Game is directed by the critically-acclaimed Spike Lee and stars Denzil Washington and Ray Allen. Son Jesus (Allen) is an extremely talented basketball player, while father (Washington) is a convicted felon, temporarily released by the governor, an influential alumni of one of the colleges, so that he might influence his son to sign up with the governor's college.

May 12: Color of Money is the 1986 sequel of the 1961 classic 'The Hustler' by famed director Martin Scorcese, featuring superstars Paul Newman, a stake-horse who rediscovers his own talent and desire for hustling when he bankrolls up-and-coming pool shark Tom Cruise.

May 19: The Air Up There (1994) features Kevin Bacon as a college basketball coach who wants a big promotion. To get it, he needs to make a dramatic find. He ends up deep in Africa, hoping to recruit Saleh, a huge basketball prodigy Bacon glimpsed in a home movie. But Saleh is the chief's son and has responsibilities at home.

May 27: The Rookie (2002) is an inspirational film based on true story, starring Dennis Quaid, a father and a high school baseball coach who thinks his dreams are over. But his life changes when he starts coaching a perpetually losing team in the district championship.
