Wild card entrants Vishal Uppal and Mustafa Ghouse crashed out of the USD 25,000 Coffee Cup ATP Challenger tournament which began in Chikmagalur on Monday.
In first round matches, Ghouse went down meekly to third seed Yen-Hsun Lu of Taipei 3-6, 2-6, while Uppal lost to second seed Danai Udomchoke (Thailand) 4-6, 2-6 at the Centenary Stadium courts.
Meanwhile, Philip King of the US, the lucky loser in the qualifying round who gained entry into the main draw after India's Harsh Mankad pulled out because of knee injury, advanced to the second round.
The American beat Sebastian Rieschick (Germany) 6-3, 6-2.
