Santiago Gonzalez beat Robert Steckley 6-3, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the opening singles match on Friday.
"Gonzalez was beaten here last week by Frank but he played extremely well today against Robert, especially at the net," Canadian team captain Martin Laurendeau said.
