Sixth seeds Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur beat 14th seeds Elena Dementieva of Russia and Italian Flavia Pennetta 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on Sunday to win the women's doubles title at the U.S. Open.
American Raymond and Australian Stosur recovered from a loss of concentration in the second set to clinch victory in one hour, 46 minutes and claim their first Grand Slam title together.
For Raymond, it was her fourth Grand Slam women's doubles title. For Stosur, it was her second Grand Slam title after she teamed with fellow Australian Scott Draper to win the mixed doubles at the Australian Open in January.
"The first couple of tournaments we played in we didn't do that great," Raymond said.
"But it takes a bit of time to get used to playing together and the last few weeks has been great."
