Viswanathan Anand was content agreeing to a draw against Michael Adams in the tenth round of the FIDE World Chess championships in San Luis, Argentina.

After splitting the point from an Anti-Marshall, Anand has 5.5 points and is tied for third with Alexander Morozevich, whose streak of three wins was halted against leader Veselin Topalov after a hard-fought draw.

Topalov continues to lead at the top of table with eight points after 10 rounds with six wins and four draws. He is followed by Peter Svidler who drew his tenth round with Peter Leko. The tenth round's only decisive game saw Rustam Kasimjanov beat Judit Polgar.

The Adams-Anand with the Indian having darker pieces was an Anti-Marshall, just like the Leko-Svidler game. Anand had his pieces better organized and had Adams in an awkward spot.

But in the middle game, it ended tamely in a draw as Anand seemed happy enough with it. And Adams for his part looked tired.

There are four more rounds left and Topalov looks well placed to crown himself as the FIDE World Chess Champion in this edition.
