Sania Mirza will take on Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine in the singles final qualifying round of the Acura Classic tennis tournament in San Diego, USA.
Sania crossed her first hurdle of the qualifying draw of the event starting Monday by defeating 134th-ranked Galina Voskoboeva of Russia 6-1, 6-1.
The 64th-ranked Indian dominated the 55-minute match as she broke the 20-year-old Russian in the very first game of the encounter. Sania, who only dropped serve once, converted six of the eight break-points.
Sania, after leading the second set 4-0, went on to easily serve out the match.
However, Bondarenko, the 196th ranked unseeded player, who reached the final overcoming the challenge of her higher-ranked opponent, ninth seed and 113th-ranked Tatiana Panova of Russia 6-4, 6-0, would be ready for another tough battle to enter the main draw of the tournament.
Sania was allowed entry as a lucky loser after she lost in the final qualifying round of WTA tour event in Stanford following the withdrawal of Chanda Rubin.
