Following is a factbox on France's Patrick Vieira who agreed to join Juventus from Arsenal on Thursday:

1976 - Born June 23 in Dakar, Senegal.

1993 - Signs for French first division side Cannes, making his reputation as a combative midfielder.

1995 - Joins Serie A club AC Milan but fails to secure a regular first-team place, making just two appearances.

1996 - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger brings him to the English Premier League club as his first signing, costing 3.5 million pounds.

1997 - Wins first international cap for France against the Netherlands.

1998 - Wins league and FA Cup double with Arsenal.

- Wins World Cup on home soil, providing the pass for the third goal in a 3-0 victory over Brazil in the final.

2000 - Wins European Championship with France after 2-1 golden goal victory over Italy in Rotterdam.

2002 - Made club captain of Arsenal following the club's FA Cup and League double triumph in May.

- Disappoints in French World Cup campaign in which the holders are knocked out in the first round.

2003 - Misses FA Cup final win over Southampton through injury, while a poor finish to the season results in Arsenal surrendering league title to Manchester United.

- August: signs new three-year deal with Arsenal following speculation that he would join Real Madrid.

2004 - May: Wins league title again but hopes of a treble-winning season ruined in a four-day spell in April when Arsenal lose to Chelsea in Champions League quarter-finals and to Manchester United in FA Cup semi-finals.

- June: Vieira is part of disappointing France team that fails to defend European Championship title, when they are knocked out in quarter-finals of Euro 2004 by Greece.

2005 - May: Vieira lifts FA Cup in his final game for Arsenal after penalty shootout win over Manchester United. He scores final penalty to clinch victory in the final.

- July 14: Agrees to join Juventus for 20 million euros (13.7 million pounds)
