Australian Open - Day 3

Former champion Serena Williams blasted her way into the third round with a 6-3, 6-0 thrashing of Dally Randriantefy of Madagascar.

The American hammered six aces as Randriantefy's resistance lasted just 48 minutes.

"It's definitely getting better and better with each match," Williams said.

Randriantefy showed plenty of sparkle early on. But once Williams had taken the first set she romped through the second set in only 19 minutes, allowing her opponent just seven points.

Williams next plays India's Sania Mirza, an opponent she admitted to knowing nothing about.

"I am pretty sure she's heard of me (though) and she'll be ready to play my game."
