September 22. West Indies Captain Brian Lara is felled by a bouncer from Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar during the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy at the Rosebowl in Southampton, England.

The West Indies registered a convincing seven-victory over Pakistan to romp into the final.

The Windies then beat England by two wickets to win the ICC championship and pick up its first major title since the 1979 World Cup.
