Jordan brought Formula One to Russia on Friday with the launch of their 2005 car in snow and sub-zero temperatures in Moscow's Red Square.

The British-based team, bought by Russian-born Canadian businessman Alex Shnaider last month, will be renamed Midland next year.

"We want our team to have a Russian flavour so it was very important to introduce ourselves appropriately to the media and business here in Moscow," said Jordan team principal Colin Kolles.

The team has an all-rookie line-up this season, with Portugal's Tiago Monteiro and Narain Karthikeyan as India's first Formula One driver.

"I think Russia, like my home country India, is a nation which would very much like to host a race in the future grand prix calendar," said Karthikeyan.

"There are many similarities between us, although the climate is certainly not one of them.

"It's such a great business opportunity for sponsors and with the sport attracting interest in new countries, the fans are increasing in number day by day," he added.

The season starts in Melbourne on March 6.
