Disgraced Romanian international Adrian Mutu, sacked by Chelsea after testing positive for cocaine last month, said the incident has ruined his career.

Mutu was sacked by the English Premier League club on Friday for gross misconduct after he tested positive for the drug and faces a two-year ban from soccer.

"Now my career is in ruins. I might as well walk away from football. What is there left for me?" Mutu was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.

"Chelsea have destroyed me. I don't know what I'm going to do. I am shocked and surprised by their decision.

"I didn't expect them to pay me while I was suspended but I never thought they would sack me either," added the 25-year-old striker.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, however, has said he would consider signing the Romanian once he has served any ban.

"Mutu has the right like everyone else to start again from zero when he has been punished and served his suspension," Wenger was quoted as saying in the Mail on Sunday.

"When that is completed, he will be open to negotiation, and in these circumstances you would meet the player and see what help he can give you.

"Other players have been caught positive. They have played again with other clubs, other very big clubs."

Mutu is the second player to be sacked by Chelsea for cocaine abuse following the dismissal of Australian goalkeeper Mark Bosnich two years ago.
