Lleyton Hewitt of Australia entered the quarter-finals with a hard-fought victory over unseeded Belgian Xavier Malisse.
The 12th seeded Australia won 7-5, 6-2, 7-6 in two hours, 45 minutes. He will take on unseeded Gaston Gaudio in the last eight.
