Laureus World Sports Awards
Former tennis ace John McEnroe and actress and supermodel Rachel Hunter host the awards ceremony.
Among those who applauded the best in sport were Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman, new World heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, Portuguese footballer Luis Figo, Portugal's legendary marathon runner Rosa Mota, the golden goal hero of Germany's women's World Cup winning team, Nia Künzer, and Formula One racing driver David Coulthard.
