Anju finishes fifth at Stockholm

Ace long jumper Anju Bobby George finished fifth in the D N Galan Super Grand Prix at Stockholm on Tuesday night.

The 27-year-old managed a best jump of 6.60 metres and finished outside the medals bracket.

The gold medal went to Kluft Carolina of Sweden with a jump of 6.85 metres, while Upshaw Grace of  the United States (6.71m) and Thompson Bronwyn of Australia (6.63) took the silver and bronze respectively.

Valentina Gotovska of Latvia took fourth place with a best jump of 6.61 metres.

Anju, India's best medal hope at the forthcoming Athens Olympics, has had an happy outing ever since she has started her run up for the Games winning the gold in Doha, Qatar and then finished third in the Eugene Prefontaine Classic in the United States and also bagged the silver medal in Madrid a fortnight ago.
