She had defeated Maya Rosa of Indonesia in the opening round.
Joining Tangphong in the last eight stage was Iciri Rai, who upset eighth seeded Diana Julianto of Indonesia 6-3, 6-3 in another second round match
In other matches, seventh seed Giorgia Mortello outplayed Ukrane's Oxana Lyubtsova 6-1, 6-4 to qualify for the last eight stage.
Only three matches were held today due to unexpected rain and bad weather.
The top three seeds, Isha Lakhani, Rushmi Chakravarthi and Megha Vakharia, are yet to play their second round matches.
