Promising youngster Ronak Pandit won the gold in the junior men's 25m rapid fire pistol at the 10th Asian Shooting Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday.
Pandit scored 562/600 to beat Ruengpanvawsp of Thailand (553) and Asal Mohd of Malaysia (552) winners of the silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the senior women's 10m air pistol event, the Indian team consisting of Anisa Syed, Shweta Chaudhary and Sushma Rana won the bronze with a total score of 1134/1200, China (1155) and Japan (1136) finished first and second respectively.
However, in the individual event the Indians finished way down the order. The best performance came from Anisa (380) who finished eighth in the final.
Though Shweta too shot an identical score of 380, she failed to make it to the final on the last card basis.
In the men's trap event, Mansher Singh was leading after two rounds with 49/50. Manavjit Singh shot 48 and Anwer Sultan (47).
The remaining 75 birds will be fired tomorrow and after 125 shots, the finals will be held.
The Asian Championships, which will conclude on February 19, is one of the last opportunities for shooters to qualify for the Athens Olympics.
