Nicolas Massu is poised to win Chile their first Olympic gold medal after beating Taylor Dent 7-6, 6-1 in the semi-finals of the men's tennis singles on Friday.
He will face Mardy Fish of the U.S. in Sunday's final after the American ousted Massu's fellow-Chilean Fernando Gonzalez 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
"I didn't expect to be here so I don't have anything to lose," Fish said. "I'm sure Nicolas would say the same thing. There's no pressure on either of us."
Massu was ecstatic. "This is an historic moment for Chile... and the best in my career.
"It was a dream for me to participate in the Olympic Games -- now I am in the final and ready to win gold."
