The International Olympic Committee said today that the disciplinary commission investigating the alleged anti-doping rule violations committed by Greek sprinters Konstantinos Kenteris, men's 200m gold medallist at the Sydney Olympics 2000, and Ekatarina Thanou, women's 100m silver medallist at Sydney, has decided to postpone both hearings until the morning of Wednesday, August 18.

During a meeting this morning at the Hilton Hotel in Athens, the legal representatives of the athletes claimed that they were still not medically fit to attend, and said they had promised to attend the hearings in person on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the IOC said the commission agreed to postpone its hearing for the second time to ensure fair process and give due consideration to the athletes.

After the hearing, the commission will submit a report with its recommendations to the IOC executive board, which alone has the authority to decide on such cases.

Meanwhile, the Greek athletics team has suspended its two star sprinters pending the hearing.
